New Media, and how are we using it?

1. What does the medium enhance?

2. What does the medium make obsolete?

3. What does the medium retrieve that have been obsolesced earlier; or lessened such as radio, newspapers, reading in general? (Television is said to some extend to have contributed to making reading obsolete).

4. What does the new medium (Internet; Facebook, YouTube, etc.) flip into when pushed to extremes?

These critical questions come from Marshall McLuhan and his work in media studies 30 years before the internet, and very pertinent today. How we relate to the medium (modes of communications) in regards to how it is shaping our environment?

How are we affected by it?

How are we using it positively?

How are we using it negatively?

Update: Elder Jerome Johnson has passed away. We are taken aback with sadness. There was no support for his plight in continuing to do community work. Che's World - Shashamane Che as he is known was born Gorken Wallen in Jamaica. He moved to New York City, and lived in Harlem. While living in New York City (Harlem) Wallen grew in knowledge and understanding the African Diaspora communities in New York City. Che was able to interact with so many African didasporians that lived in New York City. He says that living in New York was a learning experience.
