United Nations' International Decade for People of African Descent

United Nations'  International Decade  for People of African Descent Resolution 68/237 of 23 December 2013 The General Assembly proclaimed the International Decade for People of African Descent, commencing on I January 2015 and ending on 31 December 2024, with the theme "People of African descent: recognition, justice and development". Last Thursday, December 8 th , 2016, I attended Film Night for  Human Rights Day organized by theUnited Nations International Decade for People of African Descent at the United Nations. The selections of films shown had very little to do with economic justice and oppression. Most of the films focused on identity issues. I noticed that it was a very small audience. Wondering where was the outreach. It is obvious to me that we do not need more film festivals that talk about identity issues without pointing out injustices that attack, oppression, and or conform us into submission. I continue to question; whereas, one questi

We Can Do This!

We Can Do This! It becomes imminent that I want to live and interact in a friendly environment as I grow older. It becomes evident the need for more and more creative living survival spaces – micro environments where I can truly be human. I have been talking with a couple of friends about having swap meetups. Spaces where we can giveaway, swap, exchange, and sell useful items that we do not use.  By starting to share, exchange, and give away items; it can help to orientate us in the direction of building community and trust. Environments where we grow and groom respect in a festive bazaar atmosphere. And, where we can exchange ideas by having discussions and sharing of information. Where we create work and research study groups. Where community commerce takes place on many dimensions while developing social cohesion. If we circulate things that we have, and don’t use with each other we keep usable and valuable items out of the garbage bins an

Gaming & Donald Trump

Gaming & Donald Trump How did Donald Trump become president? What happened?  What were the forces, the components, the issues, the elements, the divisions, games played, or was this an issueless and clueless election? What was Donald Trump’s strategy? He was the fox, the underdog, and at times like the rabbit in African American folklore.  He must have advisers who are adept at game theory, bluffing, challenging, playing to win, and control. He became entertainment for the media, and a joke for the public at large. He was blatant, rude, and totally unpredictable most of the time. At times he behaved like a toddler or an arrogant adolescent. He bluffed and acted his way to the White House. His advisors, his strategists knew the playing field well - like a card game we could say. They played them all; all the divisions within American society to the hilt. He was underestimated like the fox in African American Folklore. Two tenets to game theory that work

JEROME JOHNSON - COMMUNITY SOLAR ENERGY DEMONSTRATION HOUSE

Update: Elder Jerome Johnson has passed away. We are taken aback with sadness. There was no support for his plight in continuing to do community work. He was very angry going thru the ageing process, and his dream of building community was deferred, and ignored. It is so sad how so many elders are treated. Especially, elders like Mr. Johnson who gave so much. His wish was to have the solar house made into a museum.  Jerome Johnson! J erome Johnson is 86 years of age. He exemplifies our society’s disregard towards our ageing population. How our ageing population is treated and ignored. As throwaway items in society. Where elder citizens are told you are old and youth is new). They are not appreciated, and their life long work is disrespected and in many cases seen as irrelevant.    Mr. Johnson is a People’s pioneer in how-to create and invent for the everyday citizen and community. He developed the solar cooker in the 70s, and created a demonstration community s
