Challenges of Voting

How poorly we have prepared the youth for the many challenges they are facing, issues that are local, national, and global. Do we really know how and what to prepare them for? We have created a very individualist society which does not help them in regards to thinking and acting collectively. There was some hope in 2008. History was made in that young people went to the polls in record numbers to elect the youthful Barack Obama for President. It is imperative that young people go to the polls again. The future belongs to them and what the future will look like - they must be a part of it. Voting is a collective responsibility and activity. If the youth do not come out and vote like they did in 2008 it will be a step backwards.

During my youth and early adult life the Republicans were in power. It was a very long road for an Obama to appear and get elected. For so many years we would use the word apathetic to describe the public (the masses). It seems as though the bulk of the voters who decided who became president in the U.S. of America came from the conservative camp. It was a blessing in the 2008 presidential election that a change did occur in terms of a new voting bloc was created. A new bloc came to the polls, the youth, marginalized ethnic groups, women, labor, etc. This is what we hoped for – for decades for this bloc of voters to make the choice for who became president. It was always amazing how a small minority from small towns decided who became president because too many people were too ill informed or apathetic to get out and vote. The conservatives had an edge. They did not have to spend lots of time and money getting their ranks to go to the polls. They know the importance of going to the polls.

It is important that we all step up to the plate and get out and vote for President Obama. If we have some issues with him let us bring them up front after he is elected. WE must not go backwards to the days when who elected who would be president was middle aged small town white Americans.

Palestine - Culture, History.

Palestine Culture , History. What you will not learn on the evening news.  The Wikipedia Book Creator is not operative. Alkebulan Wiki Edit and Study Group have decided to use blogspot instead until Wikipedia Book Creator gets reinstalled. Palestine History Map Gaza Before & After Bombing Attacks.  During  Sheltering in Place we used the Wikipedia Book Creator to create curriculum for learning, research, and discussions.  We had wanted to compile information about Palestine from existing Wikipedia articles. Since most of us know very little about that part of the world; its history, culture, and struggles.   We did a Wikipedia book using the book creator for Ukraine for Dummies. So we decided to do the same for Palestine. The legendary news mainstream does not educate us in ways other than with their agenda as to how we should think.   I wanted to create an article to show what existed in Palestine before the bombing.  We have to take it upon ourselves to self and group educate

JEROME JOHNSON - COMMUNITY SOLAR ENERGY DEMONSTRATION HOUSE

Update: Elder Jerome Johnson has passed away. We are taken aback with sadness. There was no support for his plight in continuing to do community work. He was very angry going thru the ageing process, and his dream of building community was deferred, and ignored. It is so sad how so many elders are treated. Especially, elders like Mr. Johnson who gave so much. His wish was to have the solar house made into a museum.  Jerome Johnson! J erome Johnson is 86 years of age. He exemplifies our society’s disregard towards our ageing population. How our ageing population is treated and ignored. As throwaway items in society. Where elder citizens are told you are old and youth is new). They are not appreciated, and their life long work is disrespected and in many cases seen as irrelevant.    Mr. Johnson is a People’s pioneer in how-to create and invent for the everyday citizen and community. He developed the solar cooker in the 70s, and created a demonstration community s
