The GLAM-Wiki Revolution is a short documentary about the GLAM programme in the United Kingdom. The GLAM programme is a series of partnerships between Wikimedia UK, a charity which supports Wikipedia and its editors in the UK, and cultural institutions, known collectively as GLAMs (an acronym for Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums). Many choose to play host to a Wikimedian-in-Residence, who acts as a liaison between the institution and the Wikimedia community and works to open up the resources held by the institution through Wikipedia and its sister projects. This documentary gives an overview of the GLAM project in the UK by visiting Wikimedians-in-Residence around the country to learn more about the projects they have run and their experiences in the role.

How to Access Wikipedia Offline using Kiwix (Knowledge Prep)

In this video, I will provide step by step instructions for setting up a full offline copy of Wikipedia (including images) to be used on your smartphone with the app Kiwix. This will allow you to access the full Wikipedia catalogue during a “Grid Down” situation, when the internet is no longer available for whatever reason. The most important preps are Knowledge and Skills. You can preserve much of human knowledge, which has been documented on Wikipedia, and have it stored on a tiny MicroSD card. This card can then be accessible from your smartphone, laptop, tablet or other computer system. Enjoy!
