Crowdfunding Builds Community!

Crowdfunding Builds Economic Community Support!

We have entered the Age of Community, as we build communities as strong as corporations. Crowdfunding is a collective financial approach which allows individuals to pool their resources together to support projects.

Today as individuals we continue to need community and support. This need is innate, as we wallow in corporate control and consumerism. Not only do we need support, but we need to intiate and create our reality collectively, if we are to feel that we are alive and that we exist. Crowdfunding is gaining popularity, and it is filling a need for us to connect, to intiate, to support, and to create alternative means for financial support.

Crowdfunding gained popularity around 2008 in the mist of establishment financial breakdown to inspire projects, growth, and support for the making of a creative class in the mist of what seemed to be collapse - change was brewing. Crowdfunding is not confined to traditional philanthropy or giant companies, but a way for common people with mediocre incomes to come together.

JEROME JOHNSON - COMMUNITY SOLAR ENERGY DEMONSTRATION HOUSE

Update: Elder Jerome Johnson has passed away. We are taken aback with sadness. There was no support for his plight in continuing to do community work. He was very angry going thru the ageing process, and his dream of building community was deferred, and ignored. It is so sad how so many elders are treated. Especially, elders like Mr. Johnson who gave so much. His wish was to have the solar house made into a museum.  Jerome Johnson! J erome Johnson is 86 years of age. He exemplifies our society’s disregard towards our ageing population. How our ageing population is treated and ignored. As throwaway items in society. Where elder citizens are told you are old and youth is new). They are not appreciated, and their life long work is disrespected and in many cases seen as irrelevant.    Mr. Johnson is a People’s pioneer in how-to create and invent for the everyday citizen and community. He developed the solar cooker in the 70s, and created a demonstrati...

Michaela DePrince.

I am still finding it difficult to wrap my mind around the loss of Michaela DePrince at 29 years old. A game changer in the Ballet world from Sierra Leone, Harlem to the world.  This morning my take was through her life, a lesson. The lesson whatever you are doing, learning, practicing 'to make it your own' whether you are young or old. Be positive in your pursuit or pursuits.
